Senior Research Associate
Job Description Summary
The Senior Research Associate is responsible for testing new and existing products, product components, competing products and platform technologies for the assigned Team in the Research and Development (R&D) department. As an in-house expert, this role involves independently designing, performing and troubleshooting complex experiments with appropriate controls, conducting data analysis, maintaining accurate written records of laboratory procedures, providing regular reporting of experimental results, and generating technical product documentation. This role performs literature reviews to identify alternative experimental strategies and/or new product ideas and provides training and support to other departments. This role also contributes to the general functioning of the R&D laboratory and conducts all lab workaccording to the company standards.

Roles & Responsibilities
Independently designs and executes experiments in alignment with the product design criteria, including establishing novel methods and techniques. Identifies the market need for new technologies and validates them in the lab.
Independently performs data analysis and calculations including: interpreting and evaluating complex problems, suggesting appropriate statistical analyses, drawing appropriate conclusions and formulating next steps in the experimental design.
Presents data at R&D data meetings, provides conclusions and future plans, contributes to scientific discussions internally and externally performs literature reviews and develops an experimental design with additional read-outs to meet product design.
Proactively provides support and training (product use, protocols) training to other departments and functions as a technical expert in cross-department collaboration projects.
Support laboratory maintenance as requested (e.g. inventory of supplies, receiving reagents/consumables, waste disposal, and safety measures)
Validates new products, product components, and technologies as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum education degree requirement: Bachelor
Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Chemistry or Engineering with 2-6 years of relevant experience or Master's with less than 4 years of experience.
Relevant experience performing independent laboratory experiments and research in an industry setting of the related field, including independently assessing the appropriate use of statistical analyses of biological data. Prior experience with pluripotent stem cell culture is a plus.
Ability to apply critical and analytical thinking to independently design, conduct, analyze and troubleshoot experiments.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) both in one-on-one and in group settings.
Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in conducting literature reviews and applying that knowledge to product design.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects of varying complexity.
